Job Title: Director – Land and Legal
How would you describe your role in one sentence?
My role is to oversee the day-to-day Land and Legal tasks that arise at Echo Energy, and collaborate with my team to implement both current and future solutions to help move the company forward in a positive direction.
What was your path to your current role?
Before I worked at Echo Energy, I was a Partner at a small law firm focusing on oil and gas. I started at Echo as Inside Counsel and was later promoted to Director of Land and Legal to oversee the Land and Legal departments. I have since also taken over managing the Title department.
What has been your favorite project at Echo?
My favorite project at Echo was acquiring a large land position in Southern Oklahoma, which included operator rights covering a potential 32 operated sections and then successfully divesting the asset.
What is your favorite part about your role?
I enjoy interacting with my teams across all departments. Everyone I work with is super supportive and helpful, which leads to a better product.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
One of my favorite things to do outside of work is try new restaurants. I love how the culinary scene in OKC has grown over the last 5 years, from fast food to home grown food joints.
What is the number one item on your bucket list?
The number one item on my bucket list is to visit all the national parks in the United States. My wife and I got married at Mt. Rainier National Park and plan on visiting a new national park each year for our anniversary.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Having an ability to figure things out is more important than having specific knowledge of how to do something.”
